Suzanne Whitmarsh NAPA

I was born in Watford in 1968. Moved to the Isle of Wight in 1979. Started painting in 2000, selling vibrant art to visitors and locals on the Isle of Wight.
I am also represented by galleries in Dorset, Wiltshire and Cheltenham.

What I enjoy painting most are stripey land and seascapes that are instantly recognisable but modern and striking in shape, form and design.

The stripes are painted freehand in acrylics on canvas. Picking just the right detail is the thing that sets my style apart from most other artistic styles. I love painting to commission and giving thoise details that create a connection to a piece for the person, couple or family who commission me. Evoking memories with a scene and also using colour ways which enhance the feel of a piece make each piece original.

I like to experiment and be original in my approach with both paint type and techniques generally. Sometimes surprising results can take you in a new direction creatively. It is always an adventure. I am self taught.

Painting stripes can be intense work and sometimes I feel the need to paint in a looser style.
I love anything retro and have also painted portraits in a pop art style in acrylic or gouache.

I have been working on travel style posters and groovy funky designs which I love. These are the design side of my work. Please ask for more information regarding purchasing these.

I have exhibited at Quay Arts, Seaview Gallery, New Remberant Gallery and since moving from the Isle of Wight, have exhibited at Swan Gallery, Frome.
