Kate Richardson

Kate was born in 1971 and grew up in an outdoor lifestyle as part of a sailing family living on the River Hamble, near the Solent.

Kate enjoyed art at school and this progressed into formal training at the City & Guilds of London Art School studying Sculpture.

She works from her studio in Cowes very near to the harbour, Kate has the ability to use paint and ink to show the energy and movement of many things and she really enjoys expressing this with all of her mediums and subjects for works. The local yachts and their surrounding sailing scene are one thread of her creative talent. A speciality being  the  portrayal of the excitement of racing or just the exhilaration of a breezy day on the water.

Kate also excels at life drawing and the figurative studies she produces are unique and engaging. This work meshes with her sculpting using clay. She also has some works which cast using the waste moulding technique.

Kate enjoys the effect of using lovely bright colours which, if you look hard enough, can be seen all around us. The images are established using a firm line and the colours are boldly and instinctively applied to the canvas to produce a textured surface giving a richness of depth, energy and movement, this results in a multi faceted visual experience for the heart and mind.

Kate exhibits regularly at Seaview Art Gallery and enjoys taking on Commissions. Please contact the Gallery for more details. Due to demand please try to give as much notice as possible before the date you need your commission completed to avoid disappointment.
