Fiona Moatt NAPA

I am based on the Isle of Wight, and work from my studio in Freshwater on the IOW.

Fiona's work combines acrylic paint and collage to produce layered textural images. The technique that she has developed involves 'pre-painting' paper with acrylic which is then torn and applied to the surface of the canvas or board.

Initially using plenty of water the paint is allowed to move freely before building up thicker layers of either muted or vibrant colour and whilst the acrylic is still wet, folding the paper allows the painted surfaces to merge, creating pattern and texture.

Living on the Isle of Wight Fiona naturally draws upon it's diverse coastline as a major source for her work. She is particularly fascinated by the changing light and how that affects the colour and mood of the scene.

Since 1999 Fiona's paintings have been widely exhibited at venues including The Royal College of Art, The Affordable Art Fair in New York, London and Bristol, The NEC, The Battersea Contemporary Art Fair and in various fine art galleries across the UK including London, Cornwall and the Isle of Wight. In 2002 a series of limited edition prints of her work was published by De Monfort Fine Art.  2014 Fiona became a full member of NAPA (National Acrylic Painter's Association). 2015 - Her work was exhibited at the Bath Society of Artists Open Summer Exhibition.

Fiona does take on commissions and these can be arranged through the Gallery. Please ask for details.
