Emma Louise Brown

Washed Up Driftwood Art

Born in Hitchin, Hertfordshire in 1974 and raised in North London until the age of 28 when I moved to Hemel Hempstead.

I re-located to the Isle of Wight in 2013, working in the care sector.
I worked in the care sector for 22 years, working with those with addictions, physical disabilities, mental health and dementia and studied counselling and psychotherapy.
I started working with wood and beach materials after an M.S relapse in 2018. (I had been diagnosed almost 10 years earlier.)
I gave up full time work in the summer of 2018 and realised my passion for art again.
I love being on the beach it's my special place where stress falls away and my mind is free to think creatively. My work is made using natural and sustainable materials such as driftwood, seagrass, shells and pebbles.
I love creating and can see a finished object in my mind before I start a project. I will make almost anything out of beach materials, including sculptures, wine racks, coat stands, mirrors, tables and light features.
