Andrew Kerridge

Andrew Herridge paints the Island's sea and land in a way that is pleasing, thoughtful and descriptive.  His brush strokes reveal more to and about the image than strikes you at first. The works evolve organically, beginning with his life’s everyday observation.  Andrew goes on to explores the relationship between what exists and our perceived reality. Together, via both viewer and painter’s observational and emotional responses to the works an understanding and connection occurs.

“ . . . .  Entering my studio, its as if in my mind's eye alights on a Sea Eagle's lofty cliff perch. I glance at and beyond the ocean ....thoughts and paint flow . . . . I am absorbed by my surroundings and begin to paint an emotional response.“

Andrew formerly worked out of studios in Whitwell, Isle of Wight and also on the tiny Scottish Hebridean island of Luing. Always close to the sea, his life is steeped in constantly changing elements. Painting in acrylic pigment, with mixed media and print since the mid 80’s. Lately, returning to a studio in Niton on the the Isle of Wight, he continues to paint the coast and sea.
